KITA-KAMAKURA GUIDED TOUR

Our Kamakura guided tour of the over 800 year-old centre where feudalism in Japan was established. Located at the neck of the Miura Peninsula on the shores of Sagami Bay, Kamakura is a quaint city surrounded on three sides by green rolling hills.

MeigetsuinWe begin our day-long tour from Tokyo and proceed by public transportation to JR Kita-Kamakura Station. From here we take a short walk to our first stop, the 13th century Zen temple, Engakuji, the second most famous of the five important mountain temples in Kamakura.

Next on our itinerary is Meigetsuin, or temple of the clear moon, beautiful at any time of the year, but ablaze in blue and pink hydrangea in June the most crowded time of the year. We next visit Kenchoji, the number one of the five most important Zen mountain temples in Kamakura, before visiting Ennoji where we will meet the King of Hell Emma.

We then proceed to Jochiji,the fourth ranked Zen temple, and the quiet grounds of the divorce temple, Tokeiji.

Great Kamakura Buddha (Dai-Butsu)A trip to Kamakura would not do without a visit to the Great Kamakura Buddha.We take the Dai-Butsu Hiking Course and on the way visit the money washing shrine, Zeniarai-Benzaiten before approaching the unforgettable Great Buddha, built in the 13th century.

Reservations are required. You should be fit, like walking. Good walking shoes; a must! Not recommended for small children.

Our prices are only guide fee. Lunch, Train fare from/to Tokyo and admission tickets for shrine and temple not included.
